Thai man has a close encounter with a cobra in his toilet bowl!

A Thai man called Wittawat contacted  his local snake catchers after having a close encounter of the serpent kind at his house in Thasala, Nakhon Sri Thammarat, southern Thailand. 

 

Witthawat had gone into his loo when a cobra reared up from the toilet bowl.

 

He fled the scene thankful that he had not been sitting at the time when the cobra reared its head!

The cobra was not coming lightly so Witthawat gave the rescue team permission to dismantle the toilet where they found the 1.5 meter long snake curled up in the U-bend.

 

The snake was soon put in a sack before being reunited with nature, reported INN

I read in previous cases that - after being caught - the snake was then released in the nature :  I cannot understand why such dangerous snakes are not killed.

Because they are not dangerous- in their own environment.  They are an essential  part of the food chain

More people are killed by dogs and even elephants in Thailand every year than by cobras. Let’s kill them all.

On that sort of thinking you'd no doubt suggest most Thai drivers be lined up against a wall and shot.

 

Though there may be some merit to that.

Then you do not understand that being overrun by rats is not pleasant. And cobras (and many other snakes) are rather partial to a rat steak and keep numbers down.

And in the dangerous stakes, less than 100 people die in Thailand each year from snakes - which makes drink driving about 150 times more dangerous. Even murder is 30 times more dangerous (c3000 per yr)

This might be regarded as an extraordinary statement combining empty machismo, vanity and a complete lack  of self  awareness. LOL .

Who are you trying to impress? Are you trying to warn other snakes? Why do people think they have the right to reek havoc on the local ecology by destroying innocent  animals? Snakes are part of the local wildlife and can be dealt  with by contacting the local authorities.

Snakes don't go around killing , murdering and going on rampages trying to kill people . 

   Mosquitoes are the things to be concerned about, they kill about 2 million people every year , through malaria and dengue fever

So it's OK to kill other animals, or relocate & allow snakes to kill snakes, but not kill one in your yard, that may threaten or kill a member of your own family.
