INN reported on the statements of Thai Prime Minister and defence minister Prayuth Chan-ocha via Government House deputy spokeswoman Traisuree yesterday.

Traisuree said that the PM is concerned about the safety and convenience of Thais travelling home and on holiday for the Songkran break.

Many have already left for the celebrations, she said, but the PM has been contacting the Transport and Interior Ministries as well as the RTP to make sure the people are helped.

One of the principal ways this will be a better Songkran than normal is that Prayuth has told the authorities to enforce the law.

Enforce shmin-force, people will still die and get themselves into mishaps as normal, so he can talk and order all he likes will not help...

equal law enforcement irrespective of the socioeconomic status of the perp would have been a better gift.

or maybe just telling the cops to stop doing crimes themselves would be a big improvement for the people

Enforce the law not reenforce the button on your trouser pocket he means ????

Smoking some spleef of Anutins me thinks....Governments don't work on holidays

Coming from a man who only has his *job* because he broke the highest law in the land.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

TIT

Most law enforcement have the option to use their discretion particularly on minor offenses.  Just ordering a blanket  "enforce the law" seems like a very poor directive.

Very Thai trait. Expect all the praise and accolades before actually doing anything. And when it doesnt happen finger point and make childish excuses. Give em something sweet and they will eat it

i guess the job descriptions of Police must vary in Thailand when compared to elsewhere.  Enforce the law is normally the title.

Secondary function, the primary objective is somewhat grey.

Coming from someone who overthrew the government in a coup and then had himself elected as a leader.

that's great what a military junta can offer people on a greatest holiday of year - more police, army on the streets to control minds

The race is on already; the body snatchers are roaming the city already looking for prey.

Thailand's biggest problem is its own people - next please!

Are today and tomorrow also nationwide public holidays as in banks shut and government hospital outpatients, immigration etc closed etc.....or is it just the 13th,14th and 15th Songkran days.

But as usual  nobody listens

BIB bringing happiness back to the people of Thailand. Thank you Prime Minister. Doing a wonderful job.

Nice shield to give that kind of orders

Yes, this would be a great Songkran present but how are they going to get his police officers to do their job.

Anyway, my Mrs ain't fussed, I've bought her an Easter Egg, she's over the moon, best present she said.

????????????????

We're screwed!   All this time what were they doing?  Didnt the RTP head say don't talk bad about us if you do we can lock you up for defamation we are doing a great job now puppet Chan is saying what? ????

Does anyone know the answer, are today and tomorrow official public holidays ? as in hospital outpatients clinics closed, banks shut etc?

Ah , now that many ways of exacting CASH has gone due to online payments, this will be seen as a way to refill the coffers of the poor maligned officers.

His only concern is for himself which is why the usurper cowers in his free army bunker.

Ditto the same for all his fellow army cronies and billionaire ganja promoters.
