Hello all, I am landing in Bangkok on july4th 2007 at 1140pm. I would like to immediately get onto a train to start my journey over to Nong Khai, where I will be staying. Does anyone know the train schedule - I am afraid that trying to get on a train around midnight may be too late for anything promising. Am I right? I need to know so that if necessary I can just book a night in a hostel and make my journey over in the morning instead. If anyone knows the train scehdule, or a helpful website I would greatly appreciate!!! Also, how does ticket buying work - that is, I just go to the station and am guaranteed a ticket? Might they all be sold out? Please, helpp! Thanks!

Hi,

according to my time table (from Hua Lamphong station, dated 10 January 2550) there are three trains from Bangkok to Nongkhai:

train nb. 77: departure Hua Lamphong 18:30 hrs, arrival Nongkhai 5.05 hrs

train nb. 133: dep. HL 18:40 hrs, arrival Nongkhai 7:35 hrs

train nb 69: dep. HL 20:45 hrs, arrival Nongkhai 9:10 hrs THIS IS THE ONLY TRAIN WITH SLEEPERS!!!!

another choice: train nb. 75: dep. HL 8:20 hrs, arrival Udorn Thani 18:10 hrs. You will have to continue by bus or taxi.

Buses seem to be the better option, they leave I think at 15 min interval from Mochit Bus terminal.

The arrival times are to be taken with a huuuuuge grain of salt!

if you GOOGLE state railway of thailand you will find a time table.but at that time of night you would be better spending a night in Bangkok and going by train next day, then if you cannot book a train you can go by bus :o
