Thai government urged to brace for goods price spike in May

The government has been advised to take steps to cope with an average 5% to 10% increase in the prices of goods in May, when the diesel price, which has been pegged at 30 baht/litre, will be allowed to float and cargo transporters are likely to increase transport charges.

Feminists rally at Democrat party HQ over Thailand’s high profile #MeToo case

Representatives of several Thai feminist groups held a demonstration in front of the Democrat party headquarters this morning (Monday), to protest against a series of alleged sexual assaults in Thailand’s most high profile #MeToo case to date, after its former deputy party leader, Prinn Panitchpakdi was charged with three counts of sexual harassment and assault.

Following Coachella, Thailand to push for mango sticky rice on UNESCO’s heritage list

Mango sticky rice has suddenly become a hit Thai dessert, which is selling like hot cakes in some markets in Bangkok and elsewhere and the Thai Cultural Promotion Department plans to apply for its listing as part of the country’s intangible cultural heritage, following the performance of Thai rapper Danupha Kanateerakul, aka “Milli”, at the world-famous music festival Coachella over the weekend, during which she ate the Thai dessert.

Songkran Road Accidents Drop This Year

BANGKOK, April 18 (TNA) – According to this year’s figures, there were 1,917 traffic accidents, 1,869 injured people and 278 dead victims during the government’s seven-day road safety campaign during the Songkran holiday, five per cent down from the figures reported annually in the past three year on average, said Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittprapat, a deputy police chief.

Thai PM’s ‘guardian’ Seksakol quits as vice minister amid lottery controversy
