Hi there folks, I apologize if this has already been addressed. I used teh search engine, but came up with way too many posts with 'Canada' in them. I guess we Canadians are like a virus, in that we've infected every part of the globe...

Anyway, I'm going back to Canada for a few weeks at the start of July and I'm wondering what I can bring home. I'd like to bring home cigarettes and liquor; does anyone know the limit before I have to pay duty on them? Also, I have a number of DVDs that are perhaps of dubious origin; is it stupid to try to bring 5-10 of them back to Canada with me?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

BFD!

You are allowed 200 cigarettes and 1 litre of liquor duty free. With cigarettes however, you have to be careful. I am a non-smoker and last year I purchased 200 cigs for a friend from Don Muang Airport duty free shop, but I was still charged duty on arrival in Toronto. They explained about a certain stamp has to be on the package.
