Thai Police deny interference in the handling of Rohingya human trafficking case

The Royal Thai Police explained that it has handled the Rohingya human trafficking case with fairness to all the suspects who have been arrested, with none of them being granted bail or given privileges during the police investigation.

Combined total of 70 billion baht spent under 3 stimulus projects by April 30th

More than 70 billion baht, of a combination of funding from the government and consumer’s own money, has been spent under three economic stimulus projects, rolled out by the government to increase the purchasing power of consumers,which came to an end at the end of April, according to Pornchai Thiraveja, director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office and spokesman for the Finance Ministry.

Recyclers to Stop Buying Improperly Extracted Metals

BANGKOK (NNT) - More than one hundred recyclers in Thailand have vowed to stop purchasing metals extracted from burning electrical appliances. A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Pollution Control Department and the recyclers is expected to help ease air pollution in the kingdom.

Cashless Thai society not on the cards anytime soon, says study

A study conducted by the Bank of Thailand has shown that at least 50% of the Thai public will continue to use cash as their preferred payment method even after widespread takeup of banking apps such as Krungthai Bank’s Pao Tang app during the pandemic to receive government payments, support and subsidies.

One construction worker from Myanmar was killed and five compatriots injured when a piece of scaffolding supporting two floors collapsed during concrete pouring at a condominium project under construction on the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok.

Over 21,000 overseas passengers arrive in BKK, Phuket, on 1st day without ‘Test & Go’

Over 120 international flights, carrying 21,268 passengers, arrived at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Phuket international airports yesterday (Sunday), the day after the government’s anti-COVID-19 “Test and Go” scheme ended, no longer requiring RT-PCR tests upon entry and first-night quarantine for the fully vaccinated and those who tested negative 72 hours prior to departure.

Pattaya — Pattaya business owners, Pattaya police, and Bang Lamung District Administrative Department representatives discussed the re-opening of Walking Street this weekend after the CCSA  (Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration) committee extended alcohol selling hours and changed legal opening hours for converted restaurants, which is what entertainment venues currently are.
