Former opposition leader Kem Sokha spent four hours with Prime Minister Hun Sen when the former showed up to pay his last respects to lawmaker Hun Neng, Mr Hun Seng’s elder brother, in Kampong Cham province.

The “meeting” yesterday was the second time the two political rivals met ever since the dissolution of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) in 2017. Sokha led the CNRP and he met Mr Hun Sen in 2020 when he attended Mr Hun Sen’s mother-in-law’s funeral.

In response, Mr Hun Sen expressed his “deepest gratitude” for the condolence message that Sokha had sent to him and his family.
