An MP for the ruling coalition blasted the government’s measures to control the local diesel price and called for the energy minister to resign for the rising prices and for postponing the parliament debate session that was scheduled to address the issue on Thursday.

“The issue was proposed since the closing of the previous general session and the matter is important for the people who are suffering from the problem, therefore, I do not agree with the postponement,” the Democrat MP for Ratchaburi, Akkaradej Wongpitakroj, told reporters at the parliament building.

When I convert and compare the cost of diesel here to say U.K. ,here it’s 75p per litre vs £1.80 ! What’s to complain about?

Perhaps you have forgotten about the difference in wages

Oil is a globally priced commodity ($ per barrel)which Thailand will be paying. It is taking far less tax (perhaps even subsidising) per litre than European countries so purchasers here should be grateful of that. I don’t see motor vehicles here being significantly less than western countries despite more local input in the manufacturing process
