Two political parties, The Move Forward and Pheu Thai parties have sided with activists to oppose a bill that would keep the activities of non-governmental organizations in check. They say the proposed law would curb freedom of expression. They called on the government to take notice of the protesters to avoid further demonstrations.

 

Prime minister Prayut is currently in japan attending a conference on the future of Asia, however several Thai demonstrators held a demonstration outside the venue saying Prayut should get out.

 

Two  young tourists were rescued after losing their way on a jungle trip in a National Park in Surat Thani. Eliza Rose and Matilda Cox were found early yesterday morning looking very tired  after spending the night in the forest. They had lost their way the previous afternoon, A rescue team spent the night looking for them.

 

In Phuket the governor has sacked a local mayor following the National Anti‑Corruption Commission finding him guilty of corruption while in office. Details were not available however the former mayor is likely to face criminal proceedings.


Region:

China: Schoolchildren in Shanghai will gradually resume in-person classes from next month with daily COVID-19 tests, after en extended period of lockdown.

 

Children attending the last two years of high school - who must prepare for college entrance examinations - will return to schools across the city on Jun 6.

 

Japan announced it will reopen to tourists from 36 countries starting Jun 10th, ending a two-year pandemic closure, but travelers will only be allowed in with tour groups.

Incredible. Bangkok Post has a picture of them after their rescue. They were wearing shorts and sneakers. And went on the trail after 4 pm, with less than two hours of light left. British.
