Opposition chief whip Suthin Klangsaeng

Opposition chief whip Suthin Klangsaeng admitted yesterday (Tuesday) that he is not certain that opposition parties will be able to scupper the 2023 fiscal budget bill, deemed to be incorrectly proportioned by the Opposition and government critics, while government parties are confident that it will sail through its first reading in the Lower House.

Suthin said that opposition parties are against the bill, but they need support from other MPs to derail the bill and “I am not sure whether they have the guts to raise their hands to support us.”

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha took to the floor this morning, the first day of the three-day debate, to present the budget bill to MPs. He was followed by opposition and Pheu Thai party leader Chonlanan Srikaew, who began the debate.

Meaning that massive pay-offs by the government and other corrupt promises to the opposition members are already well under way to stall the opposition.

Don't think the opposition is putting much effort to muster votes to scupper the 2023 budget which may result in the house being dissolved and new election. They likely to stick to their plan to wait till the amendments to 2 organic laws relating to new, dual-ballot election are submitted to parliament for the 2nd and 3rd hearings. The censure debate will likely in late JUne or early July. Personally I hope the budget be postively voted so that the funds can be dispensed appropriately. The economy don't need another legdown at this critical moment.
