Hello! I’ve noticed a lump behind my ear and this is freaking me out. I have it for a week now but I’m not feeling anything. So I went to a government hospital this morning but unluckily, there was no ENT doctor available. How much does an ENT cost in Phuket? Has anyone ever consulted an ENT specialist? My lump and the bill that i’ll get once I consulted an ENT and the tests I might have ate already stressing me. Hope someone can recommend me an ENT around Phuket.

Moved to health forum.

A painless lump behind the ear does not necessarily need an ENT. Depending in the nature of the lump, a dermatologist, internist (GP) or infectious disease doctor might be more appropriate.

Please explain more about this "lump" and exactly where it is.  Is it an enlarged lymph node, or a small superficial nodule under the skin?> etc

Hi scubascuba3. I was given an appointment for an ENT doctor but the schedule is on Tuesday. Can’t wait to know what exactly this lump is. It’s not moving, painless, and it’s soft like there’s something in there.

@SherylI went to a hospital today and the physician checked my lump. She couldn't give me any medication because she told me I have to get it checked by a specialist.

I've just noticed this lump a week ago but I'm not sure if I had it already before. As for it's size, I think the size is still the same as the first time I noticed it. It's painless, not itchy, no redness. I tried to open my mouth big but i didn't feel anything at all. It's just normal except that i have this lump.

Does the lump feel like it is right under the skin? How large is it? Where exactly is it relative to your ear?

Did the doctor who examine this specifically say you need an ENT specialist?

@Sheryli've attached a photo of my lump in my post. the lump is on my neck under my earlobe. i just hope it's nothing serious. Yes, the physician scheduled me an appointment for an ENT specialist next week but that's on Tuesday.

OK the pix helps a lot. This is not a small nodule or cyst. It might be enlarged lymph node (for which many possible causes) or it might be a growth on the bone.

Whatever it is, waiting until Tuesday will not matter, it is nto an immediate emergency. But  it does need to be diagnosed so do follow through.

Costs of ENT consultation at government hospital will not be high. (Normal rate is only 50 baht but I  think Vachira in Phuket may have  dual pricing for foreigners, so maybe a couple hundred?) Xray may be needed but that too won't be much. If a CT scan is required (possible) then that will be more, maybe 7-10k depending on if contrast is needed but don't stress that now, go step by step.

I once had something similar also about there, my doctor back then diagnosed it as an enlarged lymph node and told me it will probably go away by itself. It did go away by itself, and didn't come back.

So can very well be something super harmless, no need to freak out.
