Hi!

I need an Ethernet modem because my new Windows Vista won't work with my current USB modem Billion Bipac 7000 because Bipac has no updated driver.

I'm looking to buy a brand new Shinro Modem (if it's Vista compatible) in Pantip for 1,300.

If anyone wants to sell me their USED modem at a significant discount, maybe I'd go for that instead?

(But of course, if it's just a small discount for the used one, I'd rather get a brand new one from the shop...)

True recommended any of the following modems for me to use: Billion 5102-S, HuaWei MT800, or ZYXEL P660-T1... but I'll take anyone which has a driver which is compatible for Windows Vista and which is compatible with True Move internet.

Let me know! :o

Buy a new D-Link ASL-2640 ADSL router, this router has wireless, 4 port Ethernet and firewall...and it is 100% compatible with Windows Vista (upnp).

Bought this D-link router for a friend for around 1900 Baht at Panthip.

Can't speak for all but the MT800 has custom True firmware installed, so would suggest buying a neutral sourced piece of kit. Looking at replacing mine with a D-Link as specified by Richard-BKK.

So you suggest that I buy something other than the MT800?

And you suggest I shouldn't buy from the True Shop?

Cheers. :o

Never buy a ADSL modem/router or even network card from a True shop. Network cards are way to expensive and sometimes hard to find drivers, routers/modems all have modified firmware so you they not even meet the specs of the manufacturer. (Also Not cheap)

The Huewai MT800 is not that bad, True only blocked that ADSL modem/router with a non-standard password. If people are interested I can send the user name and password as text file. After login with the True password you can create your own login and password and you can start the router as a real router with using any dialing software on the computer.

Thanks you all!

I just came from pantip (just to look around) and found out that the Zyxel P660R-T1 is so much cheaper in Pantip than in True shop.

In True shop it was more than 2,000

(but then the guy didn't seem to know what he was talking about... "I tink 2,000 sir"... I'm inquiring to buy from them and all i get was an "I tink")

And in Pantip it was only 1,150.... so I bought it!

Will try to use it now and let you guys know how it worked out. :o

In other words there are 2 passwords? The standard True one does not access the configuration which is available in the standard English firmware, {i.e. the version which was shipped in India} but unfortunately, the MT 800 is so old now, {replaced by MT880 at the least} that firmware is no longer on any of the sites, and Huewai never formally released one.

If you'd care to PM me the pass file, I'd be most interested.
