ESLTeacher1989
Salmon price have risen from about 550 baht per kg, to around 950 thb per kg in the space of just 7 months (Phuket Makro) Kind of ridiculous don't you think..........that means it now costs around £100 (5000 baht) for just 1 salmon fish Once prices rise, there's very little chance they will come down again. Salaries haven't increase in thailand or anywhere else in the World in the last 20 years Cost of living getting ridiculous
warrima
Doesn't help that CP and Central are effectively the only retailers. Zero competition and likely collude on pricing.

sezze
What do you mean salaries haven't increased in last 20y ? They did in Thailand and my job certainly went up by around 100% in last 20y ( taking out inflation it still is a rise ) . On topic , all food products are prone to rise in very near future , thx to grain and oil shortage involving the war in Ukraine . What does it have to do with salmon you would say ? Well , a salmon if wild caught , then the oil prices are much higher . If produced salmon then the feed for the fish is much higher . Also , for other food products , if 1 goes up in price , then alternatives need to be found, so they will rise also .
Mavideol
highway robbery at 990 baht/kg but they have the monopoly thus no options available, Thailand land of free market and competitiveness for the high so

spidermike007
Inflation is out of control worldwide. Here it is apparent with mostly imported goods. They say it is about the supply chains, labor shortages, shipping issues, etc. I think most of that is BS. It is heinous corporate gouging. Legal piracy. Companies showing their darker nature and taking advantage of a pandemic. Ugly stuff. Not a proud moment for humanity.
