And herein is the catch 22.

For a certificate of residence at CW they require a TM47 to obtain the COR. 

Impossible for those entered visa exempt or tourist visa. 

The alternative is confirmation of address from embassy.

Some embassies do not provide this service.

    That's irrelevant now. I merely recommended to use the phone instead of walking from branch to branch, saves a lot of time and sweat.

Why hasn't this topic been moved to the Banking section?? It has no place in the Visa section!

Actually it does because I needed a bank account to get a retirement visa, its directly connected, and thats the reason I started this thread and the reason a lot of visa seekers will check this thread.  Its needed information for visas.
