Thailand's opposition parties yesterday filed a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Prayut and 10 cabinet ministers, accusing them of graft, economic mismanagement, undermining democracy and clinging to power. The censure debate is due to take place next month and hopes it will bring down Prayut's 17-party government. It would be the last confidence vote before his term ends in March next year.

 

The marriage equality bill cleared its first reading in parliament with 210 to 180 votes with four abstentions.

If the bill becomes law, it will allow same-sex marriage.

 

The Move forward Party said this is a historic move for marriage equality for people with diverse gender backgrounds and everyone in the country.

 

Thailand's Education Minister says she is concerned about the impact of cannabis on students in schools following the change in the law to legalize the plant.

 

The ministry plans to issue an order making many schools nationwide cannabis free zones.

 

The ministry of public health is recommending people who have received 3 covid jabs should  obtain a booster jab every 4 months.

 

The Department of Disease Control cites data that indicates  immunity declines three to four months after vaccination. 

 

A bill is being drafted that will allow former convicted prisoners to clear their criminal records after they have served their sentence.

 

Some 150,000 people whose cases were rejected or who have been acquitted in court will also be able to clear their criminal records.

 

The idea is to improve job opportunities after their release, 

 

There are an estimated 12 million individuals with a criminal record in Thailand

 

A 47-year-old woman was arrested at Lat Krabang Bangkok for allegedly offering Thai woman well paid jobs in Spas  in the UAE but were forced into prostitution, Authorities were eventually informed after one girl managed to escape and contact the Thai embassy. The arrested woman denied all charges.

Japan:  A survey shows a large majority of companies support both restarting nuclear reactors that were put on hold and  the resumption of foreign tourism. Both  measures are seen as likely to ease the strain on the economy.

 

Hong Kong raised its key interest rate by 2 percent overnight in a move that is expected to add stock market volatility worldwide and increase the burden on mortgage borrowers.
