webfact Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Picture: Thai Rath The director of the Department of Medical Sciences appeared at a press conference at the Grand Richmond Hotel in Nonthaburi yesterday to announce the development of a marijuana testing kit. "Test Kann" can detect levels of THC (tetrahrdocannabinol) - the drug that makes users high - above 0.2% in extracts and parts of marijuana plants. Dr Suphakij Sirilak said that health minister and DPM Anutin Charnvirakul wanted medicinal not recreational use of weed. The test kits - that could be produced for less than 100 baht each - could test things such as buds, oil, food and cosmetics, reported Thai Rath. They could be used for legal cases as an initial reference before other tests are carried out. They are not ready for sale and 15,000 kits will initially be provided free for organizations that need them. ASEAN NOW notes that there has always been confusion as to the new law that is undergoing clarification. It mentions "extracts" over 0.2% THC as illegal. Yet, this story mentioned the testing capability for buds or flowers. These are being sold openly throughout Thailand since June 9th with vendors usually stating their THC levels on their advertising with many potent strains exceeding 20%, THC never mind 0.2%. These are not considered extracts. The test kits utilize immunochromatographic tech. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-23 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Seems his message didn't get across to the public on his whistle stop tour of the nation when he was steam rollering his plan through.
