The opposition Move Forward Party has been cleared of serious charges that threatened its dissolution after the Election Commission (EC) decided not to forward an accuser’s complaint to the Constitutional Court.

 

However, the legal headaches may not be over for the party seen as the most progressive outfit in the Thai Parliament. The same accuser has threatened to sue the election commissioners and seek a ruling on whether their decision to dismiss the complaint was lawful.

 

Natthaporn Toprayoon, a former adviser to the Ombudsman, took his case to the EC in February last year, accusing Move Forward of taking actions between August 2020 and January 2021 that were aimed at overthrowing Thailand’s rule of democracy with the King as head of state.

It was not a convenient time to dissolve them, as they would have started again with a new party name. They will be dissolved right before elections.

Perhaps. Or not.

Their recent history has proven otherwise - being officially/legally ostracized twice in a period of a few years, they seem intent by way of reinventing and morphing themselves stronger. Rather honourable and resistant character in these continuing troubled times. It appears that the FFP/Progressive Movement [or whatever they're calling themselves these days] has a growing popular following than ever before. 

 

....and the core is not backing down, regardless of current circumstances or future considerations/actions by the ever present and suppressive Ammat. 

 

Best to them whatever the future outcomes.

Little point currently of any democracy in Thailand, with regular coups and senate fixing.

In a normal country overthrowing an elected government by the military is Treason, but TIT.
