Pattaya — Pattaya tourist police have promised to make gold necklace thieves involving Indian tourists and transgender suspects their top priority after it became a regular occurrence in Pattaya.

Chief of tourist police Pitchaya Khiaoplueng revealed to The Pattaya News reporters yesterday, June 28th, that his commander was concerned about a spree of crimes in the Pattaya area, especially pickpocketing involving transgender suspects and Indian tourists.

As a result, officer Pitchaya said he needed to launch new measures including keeping records of all resident transgender individuals in Pattaya areas with criminal records.

While law enforcement in general is a good idea, let us see if the local franchisees are up for it, capable of it, motivated to do it, and competent enough.

How will they manage this? Maybe by draining every tourist of their cash before the pickpockets who don't wear uniform get the chance.

Apparently it is not the pockets that are getting picked?

Just how many Indians are stupid enough to walk around with a chain worth so much or are they typical Indian scammers coming to Thailand to make money . Pickpockets are generally ladyboys but just normal thieves like the ones on motorbikes snatching bags .

Now the transvestite community of pattaya gonna feel the heat coming down on them, rightfully or not...

About time they clear these LB's off beach-road.
They've been terrorizing the beach road at night since many many years.
Police is doing NOTHING. CCTV are not working.
And IF they "catch" one: It will be back on the streets in less than 30 minutes.
So, again a "bla bla" announcement.
Propaganda.

Go and round up the lady boys.

Then Problem will go away.

Oh no,  we can't do  that. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you don't think its a scam? Its just a coincidence that seemingly only Indians get robbed of their jewelry?

No.. I don’t think its an insurance scam..  I suspect the ‘Indian angle’ is just confirmation bias in the reporting....

The reporters in Thailand love repetition and perpetuating myths.... in this case Ladyboys robbing Indian Tourists.....   Others are probably robbed too but it just doesn’t make the news for some reason.

Are they actually wearing a genuine gold piece?

Having worked on Pattaya beach as a FTPA, I can attest to MANY people ( men and women ) from India wear monster gold jewelry ( fake gold??? ) on Beach Road day and night.  It's a status symbol.

Indian guys are openly not so welcome in the go-go bars etc so they tend to be in the majority "trawling" Beach rd and similar spots looking for some action.

As that's where  the less "desirable" ( for lack of a better word) lady-geezers operate, then it's obvious that these victims are going to be mostly of their nationality.

Or a crack “up”

Yes, they will assign a cop to be with each/all Indian tourists at all times. Those with large gold chains will have 2 cops, one will carry a small safe but with a photo of the gold chain taped to the safe so all can see and tourist can flaunt his wealth.

Are they planning to lock up all the ladyboys?

maybe because they wobble their heads from side to side when they speak, it just makes it so much easier to remover the neckless.

I had some good experience with the Tourist Police on Phuket recovering stolen items years ago. That is after I offered a reward.

How about telling the Indian tourists that perhaps it is not a good idea to be "socializing" with transgenders.  If you play with matches sometimes you get your fingers burned.

Why do the ladyboys find the indians beards so attractive?

anybody seen my 10 baht necklace? I was sure she was real, asking for a friend
