AirAsia PH to resume Bali and Bangkok flights

MANILA -- Low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines on Friday announced the resumption of its services between Manila and Bali, Indonesia, and Bangkok, Thailand, beginning July 17.

The carrier had planned to relaunch these routes last April. The resumption, however, got delayed as it depended on the easing of travel protocols, according to spokesperson Steve Dailisan.

Twice weekly flights (Wednesday and Sunday) between the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) will be offered. AirAsia PH only flies via DMK in Bangkok.

The flight from NAIA to DMK is scheduled at 5:35 p.m., while the return flight at 8:35 p.m.

Flights to the Denpasar International Airport in Bali are also twice weekly every Friday and Sunday. Flight Z2 231 to Bali is scheduled at 9:15 p.m., while the return flight is at 11:40 p.m.

Pre-pandemic, the airline flew 139,296 people to Bangkok, with a 92-percent load factor.

In 2019, the carrier had a 90-percent load factor or 110,694 passengers to Bali.

"Reopening our Bangkok and Bali routes is part of our aggressive route expansion strategy as we sustain the momentum to recovery," said AirAsia Philippines chief executive officer Ricky Isla in a statement. (PNA)
