NASA satellite images show Lake Mead water levels plummeting to lowest point since 1937

NASA's satellite images show water levels in Lake Mead plummeting over the last 22 years.

Satellite images released by NASA this week show a dramatic drop in water levels over the last 22 years at Lake Mead.

NASA confirmed that water levels in Lake Mead, located in Nevada and Arizona, are at their lowest since April 1937, when the reservoir was being filled for the first time.

As of Monday, Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States, was filled to 27% capacity, according to NASA.

What's truly bizarre is that despite this looming crisis of water shortage and the  threat posed by the increasingly hot climate, Arizona had the 4th highest rate of population growth in the USA fueled largely by incoming residents of other states. And Utah was number 3.

Utah is a beautiful state.....Arizona is a big sandbox......

Las Vegas/Nevada is also draining the Lake.....

Sin City Outdoors has been chronicling the drop on a weekly basis on YouTube for months.... It's amazing the dramatic changes week to week.....Too many people in a historically arid land....

Meanwhile in other news - Sydney & Bangkok are flooding.....

Forget climate change, we keep adding cities, town expansions , more houses and millions of people demanding water. The demand will one day overcome supply.

That said, If we could take the salt out of the sea water maybe we could open the land with man made lakes and stop worry about sea levels

I have many friends who moved to Arizona to retire from California because it’s cheaper. If you live around the mountains it’s much cooler in the very hot summers.

It's called desalination and is used in many countries eg Dubai has massive plants.

Keep enlarging the cities... never mind where the water comes from.

Agriculture in the area is going to take a huge hit soon.

Actually most of the water is consumed by agriculture. Including crops that consume a lot of water like cotton and alfalfa.
