Laos Land Border Entry Query

Last entered Laos Jan 2019 ( pre covid times ) via Chiang Khong ( 1 day visit visa )

 

Think I remember buying the 1 day visit visa at the Thai side of the Chiang khong land border ( friendship bridge 4 )

 

Is that still the correct way to go to access Laos from Chiand Khong?

 

I read here and Online about the Laos E-Visa, however these days Chinag Khong is NOT listed as an allowed port of entry for E-Visa!

You visa apply for a visa on arrival for Laos when entering there. Cost is $40 for most nationalities.

I probably should have mentioned that the reason for the 1 day Laos visit is to 'Do a border run and gain a 30 day stamp on Thai re-entry'.....

Laos does not have border passes for a short stay for non Thai nationals. Thai's can get a 3 day border pass.

UJ are you saying that ALL Laos Visa's are issued for 30 day entries?

That's the regular tourist visa on arrival, which allows you to stay in Laos for 30 days. You obviously don't have to, and can return to Thailand right away.
