Gen. Milley drafted scathing letter of resignation to Trump after Lafayette Square

After he was seen walking dressed in combat fatigues behind then-President Donald Trump across Lafayette Square after it had been forcibly cleared of Black Lives Matter protesters in June 1, 2020, Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, drafted a resignation letter to inform Trump that he intended to step down.

 

The letter was published by the New Yorker on Monday in an excerpt of an upcoming book by Peter Baker and Susan Glasser, "The Divider: Trump in the White House."

 

"The events of the last couple weeks have caused me to do deep soul-searching," Milley wrote, "and I can no longer faithfully support and execute your orders as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

 Ah yes, Donald Trump at Lafayette square, when he forcibly had the wonderful BLM removed so he could stage a photo op. I remember it well. Bad bad Donald Trump.

 

Apart from it was YET MORE fake news and smears against President Trump. The streets were being cleared of the mob anyway, nothing to do with Trump. A watchdog investigated it already and cleared Trump (and squashed the conspiracy theory that this book appears to have bought hook, line and sinker). 

 

"U.S. Park Police did not clear Lafayette Park and the nearby area of protesters on June 1, 2020, so President Donald Trump could walk from the White House over to St. John’s Church, but learned of his interest in surveying the site hours after they already had begun planning to clear the area to put up new fencing, according to a new watchdog report."

It would appear Milley had a huge overreaction and was badly informed so made the resignation letter which he did not post, rather a none event. Unlike the real, relevant and terrifying sequence of events Milley had a hand in which has left the Taliban in control of Afghanistan and one of the world's best armed militaries.

His moment of realization came after watching a heated conversation between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Trump that led to a moment -- captured in an iconic White House photograph -- where Pelosi stood up, and pointed her finger at Trump and lectured him before leaving the briefing room.

Generals disdain of Trump are legendary. After returning to Washington from attending France Bastille Day and determined to have the generals throw him a biggest and grandest parade, his generals reacted with disgust. Ï rather swallow acid"James Mattis reaction. His disgusting suggestion to leave the wounded guys out of the Independence Day parade was meet with distaste from John Kelly who pointed to him that those were our heroes. Then the funny moment Trump asked Paul Selva, Vice-chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff what he think of the Independence Day parade and was told by Selva that he grew up in Portugal and Protugal was a dictatorship. Trump is that dumb. Needless to say all the above Generals have resigned in disgust like Miller.
