American Football - The NFL has suspended Deshaun Watson for 11 games without pay and fined him $5m after an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against the Cleveland Browns quarterback.

 

The league appealed against the ban of the initial six weeks and now it has been extended for the 26-year-old.

 

Football -  Highlights from last night's Europa Conference League play-off first leg matches included wins for Zurich, Ferencvaros, Omonia Nicosia, Villareal and West Ham United.

 

Manchester United have made an approach to sign Real Madrid's Brazil midfielder Casemiro in a deal that would be worth about £60m. The 30-year-old has been with Real since 2013, winning three La Liga titles and five Champions Leagues.

 

Golf - Patrick Reed has filed a $750m defamation lawsuit against American television network The Golf Channel and its commentator Brandel Chamblee. The filing says "calculated, malicious, false and reckless attacks" have caused 2018 Masters champion Reed major damages. The 32-year-old American joined the LIV Golf Series in June.

 

Cricket - England are clinging on in the first Test against South Africa after day two at Lord's. England were all out for 165 and South Africa currently 289-7 and lead by 124 runs.
