BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Prime Minister has reiterated the need to tackle COVID-19 using the Emergency Decree, saying the government has no intentions of using it for other purposes.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said this special law remains in place for the sole purpose of disease control, adding that the government is ready to lift the state of emergency once the situation improves.

He asked everyone to keep up to date with their vaccination, particularly vulnerable people who are still reluctant to take a booster jab.

Meanwhile, Minister of Interior Gen Anupong Paochinda said the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration and the Ministry of Public Health are considering guidelines for the transition from the state of emergency to normal livelihoods where normal laws and regulations suffice, while the Ministry of Interior has instructed all provinces to be ready for such transition.

Gawhok! (BS in Thai!)

Also, yesterday in NZ I got a free Pfizer 2nd booster.

So being in LoS prior, I now boast the cocktail of:

Sinovac

Astra Zeneca

Moderna

and now

Pfizer.

The nurses spent a bit of time on the computer making sure I wasn't going to keel over.

To the chagrin of many here, I'm still standing!

Dealt with a massive cold last month, the first in five years.

I've even felt a bit "off" at work on two separate occasions, but ART tests were always negative.

We're obliged to wear masks at work, I wear the cloth variety, apparently medically useless, but they're way more comfortable plus I am over it!

The public should, but many don't and our work sometimes involves leaning in to demonstrate power tools.

Anyway, so far so good. Omicron has probably got at least half the Kiwi population by now, it overtook every other disease as the number one killer in July, but they're saying the overall infection numbers are reducing daily this month.

Most people I work with have had Covid. I don't know anyone in LoS or NZ who's died from it.

Apart from Prayut being a boffin and bully....what is it with these men that they have to dye their hair? The vanity is so childish.

Hardly any aged men and women have great hair...except at the scalp when it grows:)))

''Thailand’s Prime Minister has reiterated the need to tackle COVID-19 using the Emergency Decree, saying the government has no intentions of using it for other purposes."

How many people actually believe that? One, the PM?

most civilized countries (if not all)  have binned all covid emergency legislation months ago, what is wrong with Thailand Mr Prayuth - maybe it is you and your top team, the people don't support you and you know it,that is the only reason for this emergency decree - nothing else

I would love to see and analysis of Prayut's tenure to see how many months he has ruled without some sort of decree (like S44) or an SoE.

We all know what the emergency decree is REALLY for.......
And this has nothing to do with any kind of virus.
I am predicting that we will see the emergency decree removed right after the "elections" which Thailand will have in the next months.
And of course the winner of that election will be HE Gen. (ret.) Prayuts party.

So the emergency decree is necessary to help curb Covid while Phipat advocates opening bars until 4am....

He has no intentions of stepping down Wednesday and will use the emergency decree to curb the street protests which will surely follow.

And still they cling on to Covid-19 as a reason to extend the emergency decree endlessly. If they can, they will ensure it never ends. For what reason? Control of the protesting populace or genuine health effects of Covid?

And if you don't believe that then its off to the re-education centres again.

Note to Cha Cha. You are incorrect, and misstating the facts, for the 1900th time. The emergency decree is still a necessity to combat resistance, to repress the show of dissent, and to prevent 97% of the population from showing their extreme level of disapproval of your staggering incompetence, your stunning failures, and your destruction of the economy.

That is all the decree is about.

Cough cough bull <deleted>

Yeah. The obvious reasons as to the continued extensions.

What's more baffling is that most here, within this venue, aren't able to recognized the whys and wherefores - and can't see through the charade that the media certainly doesn't question or even touch upon challenging.
