orientfan
An oft asked question to be sure but what do readers recommend as the best way to bring holiday spending money into Thailand? Take pounds sterling and change at the airport?
KannikaP
Strange that a previous post by JDangle asks if he MUST bring currency into the country.
The Hammer2021
Not change at the airport unless there is a 'super rich ' exchange. Why change much money at the airport. The are bureaux de change all over Thai cities? Bring CC/DC for back up
Sparktrader
Airport rates are the worst. The case in most countries
BritTim
You may need to change a small amount at the airport. Keep this to a minimum as the exchange rates there are very bad. Probably, the only worse rates are at the hotels. Once away from the airport, currency exchanges provide better rates. If changing large amounts, it is worthwhile to use the most competitive exchanges like SuperRich Green or Vasu Exchange. Ideally, use them at their main offices in the middle of a regular working day. Their rates are very slightly worse at satellite offices and at odd hours (when they are defensive against currency fluctuations when senior staff are not closely watching the market). The difference is quite small, though, if this is inconvenient.
FriendlyFarang
There is a Superrich (and others) in the basement at Suvarnabhumi, exchange rate is maybe 50 Satang less than in their main branch in the city, so unless you change millions of baht the trip to their main branch is probably not worth it.
seeriipaap
You are best able to find a good exchange rate in your home country. Bring enough to survive the first couple days. Or just withdraw at airport atm. My bank gives almost published exchange rate when withdrawing from atm in the local currency. Never a need to be screwed by money exchangers. However, if your home country is somewhere like Singapore, changing before you travel is absolutely fine.
