Football - In last night's UEFA Champions League qualifiers Glasgow Rangers beat PSV Eindhoven to progress to the group stages for the first time in over 10 years. Also through are FC Copenhagen and Dinamo Zagreb.

League two Tranmere Rovers put up a brave fight but lost 2-1 at Prenton Park against Newcastle United in last night's Carabao Cup second round match.

Also through to the third round are Leeds United, Brighton and Bristol City.

The pick of the third round ties sees English Premier League champions Manchester City taking on last season's Carabao Cup runners-up Chelsea at Etihad Stadium.This is one of seven all-Premier League ties that  will take place from 8-10 November.

F1 - Daniel Ricciardo will leave McLaren at the end of the season. The team said they and the Australian had "mutually agreed" the split.

The announcement is expected to be followed by confirmation that McLaren have signed Australian Oscar Piastri, the Formula 2 champion and Alpine reserve.
