How is this court going to put a demented general and his soldiers with their guns out of office when he has already been there for eight years?

Can Prawit stay awake long enough to do anything ? There have been dozens of photos of Prawit either falling asleep on duty or being supported by other members of the government. These dinosaurs have had their day Time to put them all out to pasture.

He is also the self appointed minister of defence.

Very difficult to say. The entire nation hopes it is so. 

 

will make a most optimistic prediction. If an election is held, and the army loses, there will never be another military coup here. Think about it. The moral authority that backed the coups in the past, is long gone. And the army does not have the guts to wage war against their people, Burma style. 

Nah. Won't happen. The Thai army does not have the guts for it, and the Thai soldiers, and the families of the soldiers would never tolerate their sons murdering innocent Thais. And the Thai soldiers are not facing the level of desperation the young Burmese are. The poverty here is not as grinding as it is in Burma. I do not think it could be sustained, if the fools started it. Thailand is a very different culture than Burma, on a dozen significant levels. And the youth now, are very different people than they were during past coups, which were violent.
 
The army is in a difficult position now. If voted out, they would have to accept it. The top generals would have to be content with their massive fortunes.

Voting will have absolutely zero impact upon who given the job of PM moving forward.  You are forgetting who is in charge.

Prayut, you've done your time, and obtained a lot of money in the past 8 years, so just move on...

This is a good example of why coups are not a great idea as a dictator wannabe ends up refusing to leave....gee what other country has a guy who refuses to leave office?

IMHO the mistake happened a long time ago at the first or second military coup. That was the time when the king should have said no and had the coup leaders shot for treason There would have been few if any later coups if their leaders had been charged with treason against the king and government.

 

If democracy returns and Thailand has an elected government, how long before the next Military coup? 

Does this mean he is suspended froim living in the house reserved for the PM at the army barracks?

Trying to be serious for a minute ( must get the image of that white outfit out of my head - incidentally, a jolly good idea to keep your i.d. card clipped to your medal ribbons, means you don't have to go through your pockets when you get to the gate!) if he doesn't get reinstated quickly he is not coming back.

 

The people who really run Thailand (the Generals are beholden to them, follow the real big money) will simply put a replacement in.

 

Prayut being sidelined is a bit of a speed bump, but easily resolved...
