Siam Rath reported that the Lumpini police received a report of a fire in the Kulap Daeng community in Soi Plookjit 1, the so-called Bon Kai area off Rama 4 Road in downtown Bangkok last night.

Fire and rescue services raced to the scene of the blaze that spread to many one story properties at a fast rate.

Due to the narrow soi and a lack of natural water it was 40-45 minutes before the fire was brought under control, said the media.

Six rental properties were destroyed but there were no reports of death or injury.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
