BANGKOK, Aug 29 (TNA) – A nephew of a former minister arrived at the Chokchai police station as he was called to acknowledge a rape charge. He denied it.

Mr. Apidit told reporters that he was ready to prove his innocence and he was actually being blackmailed. He was responding to the allegation that he had drugged an actress and raped her.

If one of my despicable nephews would commit  a crime what would it have to do with me ?

Agreed. Why should the uncle be mentioned? Is he responsible in any way? Maybe if it was the nephew of a plumber it wouldn't have the same eye catching affect.????

His uncle said he was going into politics to improve the country and his grandfather was once Minister for Foreign Affairs.  So he must be innocent.

He would be a great choice to sit on the parliamentary committee for promotion of women's rights like Prinn did before he got kicked out due to multiple rape charges.

His uncle involved himself by trying to silence the accuser with offers of cash and work in his entertainment business and by telling the media that his nephew will improve the country by going into politics. But Yes. I guess there are hundreds of rapes in Thailand every day and most go unreported or ignored by the media, if they are reported.  But the accuser and the accused are well known figures. So more interesting to the media.
