No major marijuana-use disorders or issues increased in the past five years, not even after cannabis and hemp were legalized in Thailand in June, the Thai Public Health Ministry stated on Thursday, September 1st.

 

Dr. Praphon Tangsrikiatkul, Committee Chairman of the Marijuana for Medical Use under the Ministry of Public Health, revealed during the committee meeting that in the past five years from 2018 to 2022, the number of marijuana addicts who sought rehabilitation was relatively stable.

 

According to the information from the Department of Medical Services, patients suffering from marijuana allergies or acute cannabis intoxication in the emergency department are currently at an average of 1-2 people/day while 81 percent of the patients are recovering and able to return home after being treated in the emergency room. Nope, and there’ll be fewer and fewer incidents as the novelty wears off. Alcohol meanwhile…

My friend started taking edibles for a few days (Sunday as I understand). I have tried talking to him since Tuesday but every time he's just incoherent on the phone and I can't get a word he is saying. Till today he says he keeps eating them (his relative tells me)... I talked to his co-workers and they say they have not heard from him this week and HR is under pressure from the big boss...

 

I don't know how I feel about that. He is a responsible person that never missed work. He'll snap out of it soon but there will be consequences.

 

Can't see this being beneficial for the country honestly, except the companies selling this product.

 

I don't know much about it, but as I understand CBD is good medicinally while THC makes you high also. Any member is welcome to enlighten me about it, there must be more to it that I'm not aware of. 

 

I'm just concerned, yet a bit ignorant.

So far the only gummies I have seen legally for sale are cbd. So if he is taking something he shouldn't hardly the fault of legalisation.

Anybody with any sense would have expected this news, Its certainly one in the eye for the "reefer madness" brigade. It is also evidence that any further draconian regulations are not really necessary. As another member has pointed out there has been a novelty value which will   have started to wear off, a result of this will be a further drop in "incidents".   Even the gutter press has stopped their pathetic attempts to sensationalise the situation.

Is there any scientific evidence to justify the term, "marijuana addicts?" People may develop a psychological dependence on weed, but addiction suggest physical dependency.

There was a news story that some politician didn't like the idea of making Thailand into a weed tourist destination.

 

But if you look at the map, Thailand is the Holland of the east now. It is the only country on the continent to legalize it. It could very well become a weed tourism spot. Indian, Russian, Chinese, Japanse who want to smoke it will come.

I consider alcohol, nicotine or even coffee to be more addictive than cannabis. Talking from own experiences. Also Kratom could cause dependency but I never used it.

Maybe a very small amount of people, who were thinking of the area anyway.  

India has righteous dope, and beautiful hashish, kinda illegal.  China, Japan, they have pot too. Its more serious there but still available to locals.  
 It was illegal in North America just about my whole life, doesn't mean there wasn't lots of pot.  We didn't consider flying to Amsterdam(tolerated) to smoke freely, we could have bought a pound locally for the cost of airfare and stayed on the couch.  
 Those that are coming anyway will thoroughly enjoy the new attitude, but IMHO I don't believe it will bring in a significant amount of weed tourists.

Yes true about all edible thc except that is the US and I have yet to see anybody offering retail thc gummies at anyrhing above 0.2% as they are illegal in Thailand.

Yeah - you can become psychologically dependent. Plus it's like a complete demotivator nobody works well stoned.

I have heard the government is also investigating the disappearance of Thai desserts and sweets around the dispensary's.  Believed to be gang related. So far the investigation has determined the amount of cannabis sold is in direct proportion to the disappearance.

Unfortunately this is not true. I have ADHD, when I have a technical task my mind focuses on it much better if I have a joint. Im not wasted/whacked just a buzz.  
 Printing press operator for 30 years, just about always worked with a buzz on and was top producer in most shops. 

 NHL goalie- says he focuses much better on the puck and the action with a buzz. 
 Canadian Snowboard olympic champion- focused better with a puff. 

 

We really need to get out of this huge generalization that folks that smoke pot act like Cheech and Chong.

I see, thanks for that detail. I talked to him today and he is coming back to earth.. He said he mixed edibles and alcohol and then just kept doing that for days... He told his company he got really sick but they don't seem to be buying it and his boss will see him Monday morning. Trouble coming...

Difficult to say. For those who smoke daily how many tropical beach destinations are there were it's legal? I think Jamaica could be one

Yeah well it's probably the sauce then. Mixing alcohol and cbd can increase the sedative effect for the most part studies show its actually a good combination and I believe cbd is currently being used to help people with drinking problems.

Yip, I don't feel to drink after good CBD....never been a heavy quantity drinker, just bit too long phases of low level boredom drinking at times.

 

CBD tincture has been a brilliant substitute...no hangover...woo hoo !

Just feels as good as 1-2 drinks at times...but that is the 17-18% CBD not 3-5% tinctures and there are no CBD concentrate percentage limits in Thailand.

as i dont trust anyone that makes edibles (dont know the amount or quality of the used cannabis) i found on FB something that called ganja cloud mellow. I bought it cause you can decide for yourself how much u use. Much safer

Trust me, he's not on weed alone, probably got a side order of meth, and hes either banging his brains out, or flying solo. 

Meth is the only thing out there that would keep a first timer distracted for days, probably took too much without realising it or he's fiending, and likely with agreeable bad company egging him on... Just my two points worth.

I was under the impression that CBD does not cause any psychological effect.

Theres literally a scientific study hit the news today debunking the demotivation issue! So many LIES about all drugs. It's unfortunate, people are missing some incredible life experiences, because random arsehats in power with no imagination or sense of joy, they only have nanny impulse control and moral issues they feel the urge to foist on other adults.

No other drugs but he did mix with alcohol and other members here think that's a bad mix.
