Thailand’s media has been gung-ho about the ongoing case of a female police corporal who claimed to be the wife of a senator and managed to break every possible rule she could by just using the senator’s name.

The case against a female police corporal, who has been accused of torturing a female soldier who served as her maid, is another example of how corrupt the Thai police’s and military’s promotion systems are.

It is a common knowledge that a police officer or a soldier will be able to climb the ranks and file at a much faster pace than others if they know someone in power.

There is no doubt that the corruption with the promotion system of the police and the military will continue until there is a real reform of the Thai police and the military.

I think the above statement covers it all - No surprises unfortunately.

If I remembered correctly, the promise to get rid of corruption at all levels was one of General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s excuses for the 2014 coup and the fact of the matter is, he was in charge of the police and the military while all of this was happening.

Once again I think I can safely say No surprises .......????????

Hey Cha Cha. What ever happened with your promises to root out your bad apple immigration guys, on the border? They likely let in thousands, to line their greedy pockets. Do you care at all, on any level, about anything other than your own enrichment, and the vintage of ridiculously expensive champagne you will have this evening?

There is no saying the extent of the corruption in this administration, but the army is not exactly known for integrity.

You must step down, or be removed. You are the most toxic force this nation has endured for a very long time. The youth is right. You must go. Out. Get out now!

Corruption in the military is likely endemic...and often renders an army poorly situated in a conflict. Russian military today is an example of high levels of corruption.

That country has untold thousands (?) of ghost soldiers...all drawing salaries for their leaders...does Thailand have the same issues?

Well, that was fast.   At ease, men--and you, too, maid beater.  Back to normal.

Gung-ho means to be over the top enthusiastic.  It's generally used as a negative.  It can imply that due care is not being taken as a result.

Is this really only reserved for those two sectors?  I'm pretty sure money and family connections play a part in most jobs in Thailand.

Both institutions bring shame on the nation with their total disregard for any honesty, transparency and duty to serve the people.

They should have the R stripped from their title as their corrupt practices are a national disgrace.

I was told yonks ago that police pay 1m baht to work in Pattaya, now why would that be ?

I don't think there is corruption within the system.

Corruption is the system.

Talk is far easier than action.  The only action Prayuth, Prawit, Anutin and their cohorts have excelled at is stealing the Thai taxpayers money.

Was just reading he has had his 4 official cars taken back to avoid any abuse of power and I'm back off to A+E to get my sides stitched back up again ????

No.  It varies by location.  Just check out the world corruption index.

absolutely right. This is why Thailand will never progress due to the wrong people in power at all levels across all sectors. The system here is broken beyond repair.
