Several hundred protesters are due to drive to Bangkok today and deliver a petition to HM the king in an attempt to prevent forestry authorities from dismantling properties at a popular mountain side in Chiang Mai. Most of the group are ethnic Hmong who live on the mountain.

 

The Constitutional Court is due to hold a special meeting on Thursday,  to consider the eight-year    tenure of suspended Prime Minister Prayut, 


The court will consider whether it has enough evidence to determine whether Prayut’s tenure began in 2014, 2017, or 2019 and whether it should have ended last month or continue until 2027.


Prayuts legal team submitted a 30 page document to the court on 1st of September. 

 

A hike in traffic fines announced last week will not be implemented for 3 months, to allow time to publisize the new level of fines, the penalty for  speeding tickets, jumping a red light or failing to stop at a pedestrian crossing will be between 1 and 4,000 baht, and drunk driving could face a fine up to 20,000 baht.


Police are likely to enforce the new rules from December.

 

Police in Chonburi say they have summonsed the electrician who installed the electric system at the 
Mountain B pub, after fire killed 23 people a month ago.


Relatives of those killed have urged police to continue to take legal action against the owner.

 

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec)  opened a meeting in Phuket yesterday to promote the bio-circular-green economic model among SME’s Small to middle sized business members. 

 

A fishing boat went up in flames and was gutted by fire yesterday,  and another boat was slightly damaged at a mooring in Songklah, fire crews took a couple of hours to extinguish the flames. The owner of the boat is unknown.

A strong 6.6 earthquake killed at least 21 people in south west China’s Sichuan province yesterday.


The quake was also felt in Chengdu where many residents are in a covid lockdown, at least one other town was severely damaged.
