An allegedly drunk Japanese man ran amok and climbed a roof after being allegedly unable to pay for his drinks at a Pattaya restaurant, asking to talk with the Japanese embassy.

The incident took place at 11:30 P.M. during light evening rain yesterday, September 6th on Soi Pattaya 10. Sawang Boriboon rescue services were notified of a Japanese man who became enraged and climbed onto the roof of an abandoned building after fleeing a restaurant reportedly refusing to pay for his drinks. He gave no reason to staff, rescue workers, or law enforcement for why he refused to pay and was chased by restaurant staff to the roof until police and rescue staff were called.

The rescue team arrived at the two-storey building at 11.36 P.M. The Japanese man was sitting on the roof of the second floor, looking intoxicated and confused and only asking to speak with the Japanese embassy.

He could well have been overcharged and then threatened with violence and feared for his safety and took defensive measures by hiding from the perpetrators ?

Life's too short to do this stuff, it's got to be attention seeking, all the time he's been ducking and weaving, he could be spending quality time with a beautiful young lady in his hotel room.

Having sex with a prostitute would have been the last thing on his mind

Drunk, climbing structures.

Sounds fair to me????????

I'm sure it was the first thing on his mind when he entered the bar.

Why didn't he just hire  prostitute as soon as he walked into the bar and no bother with drinking anything

Good question.

Some people are different to you and I.

The guy has some issues, asking for embassy help, climbing on a building.

It's a strange place.

Could be that the bouncers got a bit rough with him and he thought that he was in danger and tried to escape and run and hide and called his Embassy to help him ?

Yep, I agree.

Lots of unknowns here but I'm sure our team of AN members will solve the case before end of day.

Or, alternatively, surprised by the bill they've managed to accumulate while drinking themselves into such a state that they're prepared to climb a building!

Probably a 50 baht Chang and 4950 baht lady drink

he looks more like a prison escapee to me .....  not your average well behaved Japanese

They seem to get lost in the moment...I have seen a lot of Japanese who look like they are working here and are on generous expense accounts..... usually the GGBs do a number on them and even the floor-sweepers get drinks. No GGBs around soi 10, a few beer bars about... but these days they charge GGB prices for LDs.

Bloody rank amateur.

I would never run amok for a check-bin of less than Baht 15,000.

If you're going down, do it with swagger.

So the first two stories I have read on the Pattaya forum today is an Indian being 'fined' 200K and a Japanese guy claiming his bar bill has been inflated.  High season is just around the corner.

Who said he was ripped off? You made that up.

Where did you read that? From the linked article: He gave no reason to staff, rescue workers, or law enforcement for why he refused to pay

Japanese to Pattaya, the land of Satan.  Ready to have more fun than all humans combined.

Then reality.................bill.............5000 baht.   OMG, was I scammed?  LOScam?   Wait, I will call my embassy.   World News!!!!   Helicopters!!!

Hours later.......................hi kids, ah, yes, I was in Pattaya at a bar and .......errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

There's always two sides to a story, I would like to here his. I guess at the moment the Japanese Embassy are the only people he can trust. Remember only the truth will set you free.

Officer: "What shall it be, Harakiri or Kamikaze?"

Computer Law of Thailand will get you really 'Fined' if you say something (even truthful) about a bar. However, the entire board has now an opinion of Soi Pattaya 10.

Wont take that long. Someone will I am sure have already solved it.

It is reported Restaurant! Let's not allow our imagination go wild here?

he did the right thing take off,  climb a wall and demand to speak to his Embassy which he has a much better outcome than if the police handle it.

He was well aware of what " This is Thailand " and it's meaning he must have knew the outcome of what the Indian had to pay for his inappropriate touching panic and took off like a Ninja.????????
