snoop1130
Thailand’s Central Administrative Court issued a ruling today (Wednesday), ordering the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and its investment arm, Krungthep Thanakom Company, to pay Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company (BTS) a total of 11.754 billion baht for the first and second extensions of the Green Line within 180 days. The first extension is from Taksin to Wongwian Yai and Bang Wa and from On Nut to Bearing. According to the court, the BMA and Krungthep Thanakom owed BTS 2.348 billion baht, including interest, for the period of May 2019 to May 2021. The second extension is from Bearing to Kheha in Samut Prakan and from Mo Chit to Khu Khot in Pathum Thani province. The BMA and Krungthep Thanakom have an outstanding debt to BTS for the period of April 2017 to May 2021, amounting to 9.406 billion baht, including interest. khunjeff
There's never been any question that the money is owed, but BTS will never collect until/unless BMA decides that it's willing to honor its obligations. The court can order whatever it wants, but it has little ability to enforce the judgment.
kingstonkid
BTS now that they have this order has a very effective way to end this and enforce payment. Now that they are legally entitled to the money they can now say pay or we do not play. Khu Kot passengers waiting for the train is almost like that at Mor chit. The last thing that BMA wants is BTS to simply say sorry we can not afford to keep all the stations open and close them. Would you care to think about what the streets and traffic would be like if they closed every other station? Remember they have not even raised the prices it is still the best deal in town.
