Pheu Thai’s Chaturon comes out to blast Meechai’s defense of Prayut’s 8-year term in office

The reasons given by former chairman of junta-drafted the Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC)’s in defense of 2014 coup leader and currently suspended Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s 8-year term limit does not make sense as it contradicts itself, former minister of justice said.

 

“Meechai [Ruchuphan] argued that General Prayut’s term should be counted from 2017 because the current constitution came into effect in 2017 was unreasonable,” Chaturon Chaisang told Thai Enquirer on a phone interview.

 

“It was unreasonable because Article 264 of the 2017 charter states that the Cabinet which was in power before the 2017 constitution comes into effect should be counted as a Cabinet under the 2017 constitution…this means that there is no reason why Prayut’s first Cabinet during the interim charter should not be counted at all,” he said.

Nobody wants him back in the barracks, hence his push to stay on as PM that is looking shakier everyday.

If constitution says current cabinet at time of promulgation was a sitting cabinet then he’s out.

on another post I made an easy better solution for all his troubles trying to keep in power, let's have it as that's enough of this non sense,  better easy (sarcastic) solution to all this, let's start with his last wish to stay until 2025, meaning 2017 constitution changed + 8 years= 2025, now the (sarcasm) way is let him change the constitution again, now in 2022 then he will have another 8 years until 2030 after that he can keep doing it over and over until completely satisfied  ????????????

 

P.S: sarcasm intended as the guy should be out of the door and never come back

I think he is also not really permitted there since his house is only for army personnel.

Somehow a judgement went against this, and let him stay. A period of following the law would be very welcome.

Better for the country as a whole if he just stepped down and took a long vacation.

Maybe somewhere close to where his off-shore funds are kept.
