Bottom line is that 20th century now has a great PR moment that is the cheapest it will ever get.

 

Imagine DiCaprio and the heads at 20th standing on the beach and presenting the cheque.  Stating that they are doing this in the name of Climate Change and to be good shepherds of the world.

 

Don't forget they had to close Maya Bay for a couple of months this year because of tourist damage.

So acquit the people that allowed the filming to go ahead, and then fine the movie companies money to rehabilitate the beach decades after the event?

Next there will be a charge on each tourist entering the beach in the event of damage while they walk around.

Guess this will be the last major movie shot in Thailand.. 

In 20 years or so the Fast and Furious studio can expect a bill to repair local Krabi roads.

Mmmh... what about suing the China Government for sending all the tourist which destroying pristine landscapes and environment? Would this include Thai Tourist and Environmental Protection Agency as well?...as they all failed their responsibilities. 

Something not right here, fix already agreed to pay when they made the movie, did they pay?? And why wait 25 years and supreme court all for 10 million which us nothing to fox.

Maybe fox should counter sue for Thailand for $10 million given all the free advertising and the extra tourist the movie made

btw they collect already more than 2 million every year from tourists entering PhiPhi (20 B fee on arrival) is this not used to repair damage ?

Pocket change this time but now the courts have set a presedence with Maya Bay  The figure will probably be 10x that next time. And believe me there will be a next time for greedy Thais. I hope all the film companies boycot Thailand. In this modern age of green screen technology Film companies do not need Thailand. What about all the revenue from tourists visiting Maya Bay. and the Kwai Bridge Money Thailand would not have had if not for the movies. Same Goes for Bridge over the River Kwai, James Bond Island near Phuket They are still milking those, with their tacky stalls and tacky skybridge ( another scam by Thais. ) 

This sure to help Thailand achieve their "Hub of filmmaking" goals.

Oh boy. Over 20 years later and 10 million baht is peanuts for a movie studio. How about 10 million dollars?

Just leave the place alone and it will rehabilitate itself.

Many people including myself came to Thailand after that video was made!  Now they want compensation, but they already had it!

So what did the film company do to change the beach so radically that even after a quarter of a century it has never recovered its original look ??? Also , why now ??

The film company should sue Thailand for copyright as Thailand promotes Maya Bay using their movie and name.

It was actually closed for 4 years from 2018. Just reopened this year.
