INN reported that officials in Phatthalung had been meeting ahead of a UN inspection.

The authorities are trying to get the area certified as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System used for the raising of water buffalo.

A UN team from the Food and Agriculture Organization is due in Thailand in the first week of October to assess the area and its farming.
