Lat Krabang district declared a disaster zone by Bangkok’s administration

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has declared Lat Krabang district a flood “disaster zone” so provision of assistance can be expedited, to relieve the hardships of some 20,000 residents in 10,300 households who have been suffering from heavy flooding for over a week.

 

The disaster zone covers six sub-districts of Lat Krabang, namely Lat Krabang, Khlong Sont Ton Nun, Khlong Sam Prawet, Khum Thong, Thap Yao and Lam Pla Thio.

 

BMA Spokesman Ekwaranyu Umrapal explained today (Thursday) that they have not ignored the flood problem in Lat Krabang, as some claim, but have been trying hard to ease the problem there.

wow thats crazy, when I first came to Thailand I lived in lat krabang for a few months

Maybe they could sack - from their jobs for life - all those involved on flood prevention meetings

Ya. Good idea!  The method to solve problems here seems to be: Meet. Yak it up.  Yak, yak, yak, yak.  Adjourn. Do nothing.

Looking at pic at the top you'd wonder... what's all the fuss about for these few cm of water, but then you see it's been more than just a few cm and it's 8 days and not moving anywhere. Then again, I'm confident that situation at some other parts of the country is far worse but because it's not in or around Bangkok, gets far less coverage...

I live in lat Krabang, even the main road has had bad flooding in parts for around a week. Thankfully I drive an Everest, I would have been worried in a smaller car. 

 

Today is much better and a lot of the standing water is now gone.
