The Royal Irrigation Department will, from tomorrow, increase rate of water being discharged through the Chao Phraya Dam in Chai Nat province, from 1,989m3/sec to as much as 2,200m3/sec, due to the increased volume of water flowing into its reservoir.

The increased will result in water levels downstream of the dam to increase by between 30 and 50cm, especially in areas and communities around Pong Pen Canal in Chaiyo district of Ang Thong province, Bang Ban Canal in the Sena and Pak Hai districts of Ayutthaya and in the In Buri, Prom Buri and Muang districts of Sing Buri province.

People living on both sides of the Chao Phraya and Noi rivers have been warned to monitor the water situation closely and to prepare to move their valuables to higher ground.
