Omicron Booster and Pandemic-weary Thailand

The expectation is that by better matching the vaccine booster to the circulating strain, people will have longer-lasting protection.

What a novel thought.

CEO of Pfizer has had 4 and just got infected for the second time. President Biden the same. I don't think your analysis stacks up.

I understand your scepticisme as we've often been told that the COVID vaccines don't necessarily prevent catching COVID, but they're very good at reducing the risk of SEVERE illness.  BUT.... numerous articles clearly indicate that getting vaccinated DOES indeed significantly reduce the probabilities of infecting others.  See, for example,
https://www.newscientist.com/article/2294250-how-much-less-likely-are-you-to-spread-covid-19-if-youre-vaccinated/

Funny. I have never rolled my sleeve up and not as much as a sniffle these last two years. All my vaccinated friends got it after getting the vaccine. Strange how that science works. Could be that I have been lucky hey

One individual anecdote does not outweigh the statistics gathered from 10’s of thousands of people.

Multiple studies have shown that the vaccinated, taken as an overall group (and not on an individual basis) are still less likely to contract Covid than the unvaccinated - even with Omicron.

As stated in the FactCheck.org article below:

Quote

those triply vaccinated with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine were 54% less likely to become infected during the omicron period [...]

Similarly, those triply vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine were 46% less likely to become infected during the omicron period ...

Vaccinated People Not More Susceptible to COVID-19 Than Unvaccinated

I'm not so sure about pandemic-weary.  Even after masks became only recommended, nearly all Thais seem to be wearing them, even outside and away from any other people.

If the vaccine protects one from getting infected, why are so many of the vaccinated getting covid?

its all because of the unvaccinated !!     you see, we never got covid so therefore we are a great danger of being carriers  (when we get it from the vaccinated )

Not that surprising.  A big percentage (sorry, I don't know the number these days) get COVID and are asymptomatic, especially those that are younger and/or in good physical condition.  I think that it's more likely today, especially if you live in an urban area, that you had it, but didn't know it, then never having COVID at all.  I think that I read a recent (gu)estimate that over 70% of those in Thailand have had COVID.  So yes, you probably are just lucky!  Enjoy, and stay well!

The same experts that said that the vaccines were safe and effective and would stop the spread?

Yeah, listen to those guys instead of the experts who've been proven right after being cancelled by the establishment. That seems like the Orwellian thing to do.

Ehh no, no it doesn't. We've known that it doesn't for over a year. Not even the most enthusiastic jab heads are claiming that it does. Not Fauci, not the CEO of Pfizer, no one except you.

Patience won out in the end for others.

Patience, bravery and strength.

I am certainly not going to play it humble considering the heaps of s**t which were thrown at us for months on end, daily attacks and insults, pressure on our spouses and children behind our backs, family members turning away from us, segregation from society and our own leaders waging (and encouraging) a full-blown war against us.

We stood fast when the majority of people gave in, that's the plain truth.

If only people had listened to the experts, much of the economic losses due to fear-driven restrictions need never have happened.  People are weary of the full-court press to restrict their freedoms--but will we ever return to normal?

One of the experts I have personally appreciated throughout this saga is Dr. Ryan Cole, from Boise, Idaho.

This doctor is highly educated and experienced on issues directly impacting the SARS-CoV-2 crisis the world has faced.  Many of his videos in which he has generously shared his wisdom are available from the following website . . .

https://totalityofevidence.com/dr-ryan-cole/

. . . which introduces him as:

His videos, though, present a veritable wealth of information on COVID.

He details exactly how the virus damages our bodies, how the vaccines work, what the masks do, etc.

If you want to look past the popular mythology surrounding the facts and see the real science, much of which has been ignored by the press, learn from Dr. Cole.  His presentations make it clear, even to one who is not a doctor, though he presents highly-technical information clearly supporting his points.

Unfortunately, this is not how this forum works.

If you type Dr Cole's name on a mainstream platform such as Google, you will come up with a series of hit pieces and smear campaigns to discredit him as "not worthy of being listened to". No doubt several members are already working on posting these.

Your message (and this reply) will be deleted very soon for reason of "misinformation".

Since when has being asked to watch videos been debating?

It's an invitation to debate, i.e. read/listen to the proposed material and then, should you deem it invalid, formulate your refutations. Refusing to read/listen to it because a specific community labelled it unworthy is the antithesis of healthy, intelligent debate.

First you ask me to watch youtube vids from a proven covid misinformation Dr who put the lives of his patients at risk and now you ask me to read a 48 page anonymous letter thats also linked to America’s Frontline Doctors website who on 7/27/2020, released a video claiming that Hydroxychloroquine cures Covid-19

Again no thanks

Define "proven".

"demonstrated by evidence or argument to be true or existing"

As in the links I provided if you read them

What, stuff like "is a proven…", "falsely claims that…", "unproven claim that"…? That's kindergarten-level argumentation.

The links you provided are hit pieces paid for by the pharmaceutical oligarchy. Let them actually debate live with these doctors they love to smear in their absence, that would be more interesting (and telling).

Oh a live debate makes it all legitimate....lol

I proved credible links with proven facts debunking the claims made. Feel free to substantiate your claim they are hit pieces from the pharmaceutical oligarchy

Yes, of course a live debate is the only legitimate form of debate.

I will leave you in your Google-delimited reality as it seems you are very comfortable there.

5 minutes ago, Bkk Brian said:

How many live debates have you attended then? I don't know of any in Phuket do you?

What I mean by "live debate" is a debate where both parties are physically present and exchange in real time, as opposed to articles or broadcasts refuting one party's arguments in their absence.

It's pretty well-known stuff but here are a couple of compelling examples of journalistic and regulatory bias through pharma-funding:

Did you use Google or a similar search engine to find those, as you said to me:

"I will leave you in your Google-delimited reality as it seems you are very comfortable there."

Those links do nothing to disprove the facts already supplied.

I use Brave.

Good night.

Be safe!  Get your boosters regularly!

I am happy to get the new booster, shortly. Even if it will just help me from becoming dead if I catch COVID 19 again.

I have a few relatives and friends who were anti-vaxxers. Some of them got Omicron and were  very sick from it. I emailed them and let them know of my relatives and other friends who caught one of the first 3 variants and all had died. Since that e mail some have since went and got jabbed for COVID.  Amazing what it takes to change people minds.

The world needs treatments, not just vaccines.

Amen to that! Now, these cowards are grasping at straws, trying to find some remaining piece of evidence justifying their previously indefensible behaviour. They're all pretending now as if they always knew that the vaccines weren't going to stop the spread. The truth always goes through 3 stages and we're now at the final one where the truth becomes accepted as self-evident.

I know  guy that has been jabbed 5 times with 5 different vaccines to be sure that it would work. He's had covid twice after his 5th shot. Too much of a good thing?

These examples of single events don't really prove anything other than there are exceptions. Many who got vaccinated never caught Covid, that they know of... me for example, my partner too. Next door I got one who caught Covid, no vaccinations, his wife caught it after 2 vaccinations and a booster.

I don't debate lies and misinformation, I have much better things to do with my time, I do however provide direct links to call out those lies with facts.

Let's take a practical example. Doctor Peter McCullough, who, if you search him online, will be portrayed as a vaccine and Covid misinformation purveyor. Why is he not invited to an open and live debate with CDC-selected experts? If his claims are that wild and ridiculous, why not debunk them in his presence in order to silence him, expose him fair and square and let people see for themselves who he really is? Why is he (and the same can be said for dozens of other qualified doctors) only slandered and refuted in his absence?

Thanks for your valuable input, very insightful. Nice profile pic by the way.
