A committee of wildlife and conservation experts have held a meeting aimed at addressing what officials say is a growing problem of human and elephant conflicts in Hua Hin.

The meeting was held last week at the Kaeng Krachan Forest Elephant Conservation Information Center in Pa La-U.

There are now approximately 250 elephants living in the Kaeng Krachan National Park, officials said.

The issue of elephants encroaching into farmland, damaging crops and property and attacking villagers, resulting in fatalities, particularly in the Huai Sat Yai area of Hua Hin has intensified in recent months.

Stop encroaching on elephants land

What is 'an elephant land' ? a 1000 years ago the whole of Thailand and the surrounding countries were elephant's land including a whole host of other beasts, so what are you proposing? keep human natural growth and expansion at bay and let the animals roam free where ever they like or where ever they can find food?...

Yes indeed. Way too many people in Thailand, and in the world. When I was born the world population was 2  billion, now 8 billion. Before long all wild life will be gone, and humans will be fighting over limited resources. No one wants to talk about this, but they endlessly discuss climate change.

Yes, it's a walled garden where we safely look after the animals who have joined us over the years.
