Popular Post snoop1130
Thailand’s Constitutional Court has ruled by a majority that, in accordance with the 2017 Constitution, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s 8-year term in office did not expire on August 24th. The court reasoned that the prime minister’s term should be calculated from the promulgation of that Constitution on April 6th, 2017. The court took less than 30 minutes to read theirruling, which was broadcast live nationwide. As a result of this afternoon’s ruling, Prime Minister Prayut, who was suspended from active duty by the court on August 23rd, will resume his position immediately and will be back in the premiere’s office in Government House on Monday. richard_smith237
As if there were going to be any other ruling.... I’m surprised he didn’t claim that as as his accession to power was through non-violent or forceful military means the constitution is not relevant as his premiership did not commence until the results of the first ballot, which by an incredible twist of fate he won with a landslide... hmmmm.....
Popular Post Bobtheblob
Pointless that is the state of the courts in Thailand. The constitutional drafting Committee already ruled years ago that the 8 year rule should be retrospective as they feared Taksin. Now the ruling works against them they change their minds, suddenly its non retrospective. 3
Denim
The back up plan was to tear up their constitution and start with a new one and a new start date. Its taken them a week , not to come to a decision but how to candy coat it.
