Documants And Photos

Featured Replies

Since upgrading Computer: Everything is fine but Documents are saving as Jpegs and opening in MGI Photo suites and when I open a picture it is going to M/Word

Now there is probably a simple solution to alter this and its tight under my nose, I have looked in control panel and folder options bla bla bla :

OKay you Buffs tell me

Not a pro, but could be that your file associations are a bit messed up.

Try the following:

Right-click on any MS-Word file and choose "Open with", then "Choose program"

In the menu that opens up select "Microsoft Word" and mark the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".

Do the same for any picture files (jpg, bmp, etc.) which are supposed to be opened with your photo suite. In addition, you may look under settings or preferences of the photo suite for some way to associate these file types to it.

WEll I got the pics sorted I was overlooking the tick box for always open cheers mate

Now the other problem is I cant scan documents as text documents they are saving as Photo file they will open in photo suite but not obviously readable in word, I am running M/W 2007 I have looked in primter profiles but bemused it will only let me save as jpeg bitmap or pdf noy ocrm it was not a problem before

Any ideas here

Two questions mac,

1) Which program do you use to scan your documents ?

2) Was it possible to save your scans as .txt or .rtf files before this problem?

When scanning a "text" document, it will indeed get scanned as a "picture", for "transforming" this picture to a real text file, you will need an OCR program (your scanner package may or not include this software)

This is correct about OCR.

Problem is that I find that using OCR it creates so many errors that by the time I clean up the doc, I may have well typed it in.

Scanners scan an image, they do not and cannot actually "read" text.

It is the Optical Character Recognition software that "looks' at the image and tries to work out what the text/words are.

Serious OCR software costs a lot, the stuff you get for free with some scanners is, in my opinion, not very good.

Practice typing, you will go further. :o

Honestly, I simply type in any documents that I want stored as real computer readable text.

Scan for photos, Write words in Word, type in documents you need, or go and find the original digital copy of documents.

Well guys I recently up-graded my computer:

Before if I scanned in a Text Document and saved it to my say desktop it would save as a m/w doc but now it saves as a jpeg :

As for my typing I am happy with 75/80 words per minute
