Jomtien testing umbrella, vendor, and beach chair removal days monthly

Despite messages on Thai and Foreign social media recently many folks were caught off guard when they visited Jomtien Beach today, October 12th, to find no sign that umbrellas, beach chairs, or vendors ever existed.

AFTER the mass killing of 36 small children and adults at Nong Bua Lamphu province last week, two large signs appeared at Hat Yai city in southern Songkhla.

THREE defendants who shared information found to have defamed Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan about the planned purchase of a satellite worth 91.2 billion baht with this material posted on KhonthaiUK Facebook page were sentenced to one year imprisonment, TV Channel 7 said yesterday afternoon (Oct. 12).

Public invited to receive Their Majesties at King Rama IX Memorial Park

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai public will have an opportunity to receive Their Majesties the King and Queen on their visit to King Rama IX Memorial Park today (13 October). Their Majesties will be unveiling a statue of King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great at the park in Dusit district of Bangkok.

 

The public is invited to receive Their Majesties at King Rama IX Memorial Park at 5 pm on Thursday, October 13. The government will be facilitating people’s convenience by providing a number of transportation options for those who will travel to the park.

 

The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) will provide free buses on 4 routes. The buses will take passengers to an ATK testing point, after which they may proceed into the park.

 

The first two routes are Army Club-Victory Monument, and Suphachalasai Stadium-Social Development and Human Security Ministry.

 

The third and fourth routes are Wongwian Yai-Rajavinit Mathayom School and Sanam Luang-Rajavinit Mathayom School.

 

The buses to the park are available from 8 am to 4 pm. Returning trips will be available until 6 pm or until event participants have all left the area. Buses will leave every 20 minutes.

 

People who will come in personal cars may park at one of three parking areas for the event, then board a free shuttle bus to the park. The 3 sites include the Army Club, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and Suphachalasai Stadium.

 

The Marine Department will offer a ferry service for event participants at 3 piers on the Chao Phraya River. The piers are Tha Chang, Wat Rakhang, and Wat Arun piers. Ferries leave every 15 minutes from 6 am to 8 pm or until the crowd has cleared.

 

The department will also use electric ferries to offer four shuttle trips on the Nonthaburi pier-Tha Chang pier route.

 

The ferries will depart Nonthaburi pier at 8 am and 9 am. For the return leg, the ferries will leave Tha Chang pier at 6 pm and 6.30 pm. People may board the ferries at no charge.

 

People who intend to partake in the reception will need to carry a citizen identification card or a passport.

 

Temperature readings will be taken and luggage will be inspected. Those coming with children should ask an official for a name tag for each child.

 

The name, address, and telephone number of the parent should be written on the tag. Carriage of sharp objects is prohibited.

 

Participants who have cleared the ATK test will be brought into the park by another set of shuttles. However, those who take the ATK test at Rajavinit Mathayom School may proceed into the park on foot.

The “Great Resignation” is the biggest trend in the employment market resulting from COVID-19, for Western countries at least. For Thailand and others in this region, however, while resignation certainly and frequently crosses people’s minds, they just don’t put it into action. This is according to the latest survey published recently by headhunting company, Robert Walters.

Commerce Ministry keeping track of goods prices and availability in flooded areas

BANGKOK (NNT) - Floods in many parts of Thailand have prompted concerns over price gouging and shortages of items. Commerce ministry officials are closely monitoring prices and availability of products in flooded areas. Retailers are also being asked to hold discount campaigns for staple items to help out people who are experiencing floods.

Dean and office chief arrested at Burapha Uni - investigation into corruption involving foreigners
