Irrigation road collapses sending floodwater into three districts of Ayutthaya

Residents in three districts of Ayutthaya Province, and those living along canals, were advised to move their valuables to higher ground quickly, after an irrigation road and embankment partially collapsed last night.

 

About a 5-metre stretch of the irrigation road near the Chao Chet sluice gate caved in, allowing water from a swollen Noi River to gush into the Chao Chet-Bang Yeehon Canal and onwards into areas in Sena, Bang Sai and Lat Bua Luang districts.

 

Ayutthaya Governor Niwat Rungsakhon said, last night, that a huge drainage pipe had been installed beneath the irrigation road by the Royal Irrigation Department.
