Weird scenario -- new school changed start date to mid November, last date and current visa cancel Oct 24

I am looking for a simple way to spend the interim weeks.  I am thinking Visa Run to Laos (in the Northeast now), then buying a second extension for tourist visa to convert to work visa and obtain a work permit.  

 

Any other options?  I am stressed over this, so any suggestions are welcome.

If you qualify for a visa exempt entry you would get a 45 day entry now that can be extended for 30 days.

Just border run is needed to do it.
