Royal Thai Police to seriously monitor and prosecute illegal entertainment venues nationwide

Featured Replies

Another person died on the road outside my house last week. I wish they would "monitor" that situation instead.

I was thinking he's bored stiff and thinking, 'Why do I have to sit here and listen to this nonsense for the hundredth time?'

Thailand. The hub of imaginary clamp downs.

Nice of the RTP to admit they have never seriously monitored anything previously. I guess better later than never...

Poor headline. My reaction was "wait, what?" if they are illegal close them down. Period. Not Monitor them (unless thats RTP code for seek brown envelopes). But reading the article it says they will monitor closely to see what ARE illegal (which ones should provide brown envelopes). Same old empty promises not followed up with any meaningful action.

I saw this article and literally laughed. It’s a joke.
The more realistic article would be on “RTP really concerned and focused on how to continue to get their “tea money” from bars and nightclubs”

The real issue is...wait for it...with "long-time covid shutdown" and now inflation, the number of THB 1,000 notes in the little brown envelopes need to be filled with much more THB 1,000 notes.

Corruption  and brown envelopes are a big part of the police and some government officials  pay packets

This will not change as embedded in Thai society  for greedy people to make a easy $????

That exactly what was said just 2 months ago after Mountain B tragic fire.

And yet, again, they have to order police to do their job.

Is it because the majority of entertainment is owned/controlled by police and army?

Of course this need's to be seriously monitored...it's a seriously source of "extra" income!

good, can you now leave the legal ones alone

I am a little bit confused. Was this not the job of the police force already?! And now 1 person gets assigned to do this in the future? He will have a lot of work to do...

It won't work like it always does.

If a police unit from another district raids a place and are operating in a different area, they never know which big shot they are stepping on their toes and spitting into there rice bowls. This can lead to too many problems, then they better leave it as it is.

Police General Torsak Sukwimol, Deputy National Police Chief, was assigned to lead the Royal Thai Police officials to supervise the official arrangement of entertainment venues across the country.

Thy already do... that's the problem.

The police must also monitor that no gambling, prostitution, and human trafficking are discreetly provided in the establishments.

????

Seriously, do RTP know the meaning?

Must be tough trying to be clean and shining?  The guy has zero power outside of his own shadow!  Announced made end of story and enforcement.

I????

So, they're going to monitor those from whom they take 'donations' on a regular basis ? Does anybody believe this drivel ?

I think brown envelopes have been replaced with Bitcoin Debit card, very hard to trace..................I saw a Bitcoin ATM in Siam Square once - boggles the mind.         Peace

Can not disagree with his statement.

Monitor for sure not to miss any revenue opportunities. And prosecute those who miss their payments.

More wings than a KFC bucket.....

I suppose up to now they have been comically monitoring them.

Will these clowns be working as the new doormen?

And drugs as well....

He is already thinking to the next one...

As 1 illegal venue closes 3 open to compensate

Nothing will change

This surveillance guy has an extremely bad and dangerous job. He must fight against corrupt cops and governments and against the entertainment venues that bribe them. He will make many new friends. How many bodyguards will he get...
