Police General Torsak Sukwimol, Deputy National Police Chief, was assigned to lead the Royal Thai Police officials to supervise the official arrangement of entertainment venues across the country.

The deputy chief revealed on Friday, October 28th, that he was assigned by Commissioner Damrongsak Kittipraphat to monitor entertainment venues and nightclubs nationwide to see whether they have properly and strictly complied by the law.

According to the law, the venues or similar establishments must not allow children under 20 years of age to use the service, not open later than 2:00 AM., and not allow any weapons, explosives, and drugs into the service facility. The police must also monitor that no gambling, prostitution, and human trafficking are discreetly provided in the establishments.

And how many times have we heard all of the same before, and how many times has the actual police response been a brief and then forgotten show in a feeble effort to think they can persuade the public that they're actually doing something... when they're not.

You can hardly go a day in Thailand where there's not news of some place being busted for operating without a license, opening beyond hours, serving alcohol without a license, gambling, engaging in on-premises drug sales, locked or non-existent fire exits, etc. etc.

I loved the following sentence in the OP article above:

"The police must also monitor that no gambling, prostitution, and human trafficking are discreetly provided in the establishments."

Yes, we don't want them to be "discreet". If they were discreet, they're not going to make as much money as if they're up-front and very visible... And that means more money for us!

Practice makes perfect.....????

No mention of any safety features like fire escapes. The police may not be capable of monitoring them but at least they could ensure compliance.

Yeah right, this place tracks foreigners like they are the plague. You are looking at little China here. Then you see articles like this.  A laugh a minute.  But, allot of fun being here now...

Just like they were going to seriously monitor and   prosecute those who dont stop at a pedestrain crossings, run red lights,  etc etc ....    3 times today  on a pedestrain crossing i nearly lost my life ..police are a joke

Just seen several pigs flying pas my window!

Who’s going to monitor the one not too far from me that is owned by plod that I can sometimes hear ,if wind in right direction, at 4 am or more , it also can’t be legal because of where it is , I feel sorry the the people next to it

Just please don’t monitor my fairly illegal weed dispensary

" official arrangement "

Read as

Get them all to pay the same amount of Dash.

We really shouldn't mock the police. Imagine if paying a bar fine was to be considered human trafficking. Careful what you wish for.

Especially after the recent tragedy with fire in an entertainment venue. Actually the first thing they should look at.
And sex toys of course  ... they need to search everyone for those !

I had a dream. In the dream the police was running quite a few gambling dens themselves while others were closely monitored. Latter not for law enforcement but for frequent milking of contributions which enabled the police to look the other way.

Interesting, what people sometimes can dream, don't you think so?
