Football -  Highlights from last night's Europa League included Arsenal securing their place in the last 16  with a 1-0 narrow victory over Zurich at Emirates Stadium. PSV Eindhoven won 2-1 at Bode.

 

Fenerbahce also won 2-0 at Dynamo Kiev. There were good wins for Real Betis and Roma.

 

Manchester United ended Real Sociedad's flawless Europa League record, winning 1-0 in Spain but had to settle for second place in Group E. Nantes won 2-0 at Olympiakos. In the Europa Conference West Ham finished the  group stage with a perfect record by beating FCSB 3-0 in Romania. All the scores from last night's action can be found at bbc/football

 

Cricket - Pakistan boosted their slim hopes of progressing in the Men's T20 World Cup with a brilliant win against South Africa at the Sydney Cricket Ground.


Pakistan launched a recovery from 48-4 to post 185-9 and then took regular wickets to deny South Africa in a chase shortened by rain to win by 33 runs.

 

Tennis - World number one Carlos Alcaraz reached the quarter-finals at the Paris Masters with a straight-set win over Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. US Open champion Alcaraz, 19, recorded a comfortable 6-1 6-3 victory over 28th ranked Dimitrov but Rafael Nadal is out after a second-round defeat by American Tommy Paul in just the Spaniard's second match since the US Open and first since becoming a father.World number 31 Paul came from a set down to beat Nadal 3-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-1.
