Cricket -  Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka who is accused of raping a woman while in Australia for the T20 World Cup choked her so forcefully she was left "fearing for her life",  court documents allege.

 

The 31 year old,  was charged with four counts of rape on Sunday, but the batter denied any violence or lack of consent in an interview with police. He was refused bail on Monday after police argued he is a flight risk. 


Pakistan reached the Men's T20 World Cup final after a thunderous seven-wicket win over New Zealand in Sydney.


Chasing 153 to win Shan Masood hit the winning runs with five balls to spare to send the Pakistan fans wild at an electric SCG.

 

Football - It was a big night of surprises in the English Carabao Cup third round as EPL leaders Arsenal lost 3-1 at the Emirates to Brighton, West Ham went out after losing on penalties to Championship side Blackburn, Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0, Wolves beat Leeds United 1-0 and Manchester City knocked out Chelsea 2-0. Liverpool went through after winning on penalties as did Newcastle United and managerless Southampton

 

Manchester United have been fined £82,000 by the English Football Association for the conduct of their players in matches against Newcastle and Chelsea. In their 0-0 draw against Newcastle, players surrounded the referee after Cristiano Ronaldo's goal was ruled out for offside.The following week Erik ten Hag's side were frustrated when Chelsea were awarded a late penalty. United have accepted the fines of £42,000 and £37,000, respectively.
